This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension who have not adequately controlled blood pressure with monotherapy. Essential hypertension is a condition characterized by persistently high blood pressure that places a burden on the cardiovascular system; this medication effectively regulates blood pressure and improves health.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended adult dosage is 1 tablet of Valsartan 80 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily, taken with a small amount of water regardless of meals. Valsartan 160 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg is applicable when prescribed for blood pressure lowering. The antihypertensive effect reaches its maximum after 2 to 4 weeks. Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to any of the ingredients or to sulfonamide medications, or with severe liver or kidney disease should not use this medication. Patients with electrolyte imbalances such as hypokalemia, hyponatremia, or hypercalcemia, or with certain renal and hepatic function disorders should take it with caution. This medication should also be administered carefully to elderly patients, those with heart failure, diabetes, systemic lupus erythematosus, or other special health conditions. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur during use, so caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery. Do not take potassium supplements or potassium-containing medications without consulting a physician. This medication may interact with other drugs, so follow the physician's instructions especially when taken with lithium, NSAIDs, other antihypertensives, or diabetes medications. It is important to regularly check blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels during treatment to detect any abnormalities. If new lesions appear on the skin or unusual symptoms develop while taking this medication, inform a doctor immediately, and take care to avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, arrhythmias, and electrolyte disturbances may occur, requiring immediate medical attention. Keep this medication out of reach of children, and store it in its original container away from moisture.
