This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy. It helps effectively manage blood pressure and reduce the risk of complications.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet containing 80 mg of Valsartan/12.5 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide once daily with a small amount of water, regardless of meals. For prescription cases of 160 mg of Valsartan/12.5 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide, the same applies. For patients with kidney impairment, dose adjustments are not necessary for mild to moderate cases (creatinine clearance of 30 mL/min or more). For patients with liver impairment, the following applies for mild to moderate patients without cholestasis:

Precautions

This medication can cause severe harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This drug should not be used in patients who are allergic to certain components or have severe liver or kidney impairment. Patients with electrolyte imbalances such as hypokalemia or hyponatremia, or those with poor renal or liver function should use this drug cautiously. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. While taking this medication, regular blood tests to monitor kidney function and electrolyte status should be performed as directed by a physician. Potassium supplements or potassium-containing drugs should not be taken without consulting a doctor, and potential drug interactions should be disclosed to the healthcare provider. Children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers should avoid using this medication, and special care is needed when prescribing for elderly patients.
