Valsartan 160 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg is applied when prescribed for blood pressure lowering. Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, and should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to this medication or its components, certain liver diseases, or kidney diseases should not use it. Administration should also be avoided in patients with severely impaired kidney function or certain blood disorders. Since this drug can lower blood pressure, dizziness or symptoms of hypotension may occur upon initial administration, requiring caution. As it can affect potassium levels, potassium supplements should not be taken without consulting a doctor, and regular electrolyte level checks are recommended. During treatment, caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery, as dizziness may occur. Interactions may arise when used with specific medications, so it is essential to inform healthcare professionals of any other ongoing medications. This drug can rarely cause serious side effects such as skin rash, angioedema, hepatitis, kidney failure, and electrolyte abnormalities, thus any unusual symptoms should be reported to a healthcare provider immediately. Safety in pediatric patients has not been established, so it is recommended not to use it in children. Elderly patients do not have significant differences in effectiveness and side effects from those in younger patients; however, careful monitoring of kidney function and electrolyte status is advised. In the event of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, arrhythmias, and electrolyte imbalances may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment. This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from moisture and to keep it out of reach of children, ideally in its original container for safety.
