Improvement of Hypoproteinemia and Malnutrition
In cases of hypoproteinemia, malnutrition, or situations such as before and after surgery, amino acid supplementation is required. In these cases, amino acids help in the synthesis of proteins in the body, contributing to recovery and improvement of nutritional status. Especially before and after surgery, they play an important role in maintaining physical strength and tissue repair. Amino acid supplementation is used to address problems related to nutritional imbalance and to enhance health.
As a total amino acid, administer intravenously at a maximum dose of 1–1.5 g per day per kg of body weight. The infusion rate should aim for a total amino acid concentration of approximately 10 g over 60 minutes, with the principle of infusing at a rate of 30–40 drops per minute.
For children, the dosage and infusion rate should be adjusted accordingly.
This medication should only be used under the direction of a physician. It should not be administered to patients with certain diseases such as hepatic coma or those at risk, severe renal disease, or hyperazotemia. Patients with pulmonary edema, chronic heart failure, oliguria, anuria, hypernatremia, atrioventricular block, or severe myasthenia gravis should also be excluded from administration. Patients with hypersensitivity to the amino acids contained in this medication or those with certain metabolic disorders should avoid use. It should not be administered to patients with hyperkalemia or a history of myocardial infarction. Caution should be exercised when administering this medication to patients with severe acidosis, congestive heart failure, liver dysfunction, or renal impairment, as it contains sodium bisulfite, which may cause allergic reactions or asthma attacks in some patients. When administering this medication, careful observation is needed as hypersensitivity reactions, gastrointestinal symptoms, and cardiovascular symptoms may occur. If administered in large amounts or at a rapid rate, acidosis may occur, and rarely serious side effects such as chills, fever, headache, and dyspnea may occur. Electrolyte balance should be monitored during large doses, especially in patients with kidney, lung, or heart disease, to prevent complications due to fluid overload. Diabetic patients should frequently check blood glucose levels, and when only amino acids are administered, ketone bodies may build up, so it's better to administer them with carbohydrates. This medication may interact with other drugs; for example, when used with tetracyclines, the protein-sparing effect may be reduced, and if it contains magnesium ions, precipitation reactions with calcium salts may occur. The safety of this medication has not been established in pregnant women, and it should only be administered when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks. In children, there is a risk of increased ammonia levels due to immature liver function, so the concentration should be kept low, and serum ammonia levels should be checked frequently. Elderly patients may have decreased bodily functions, so the infusion rate should be slow and the dosage adjusted. During administration, electrolyte balance and acid-base status should be regularly monitored, and it should be infused slowly intravenously. This medication should be prepared in a sterile environment, with special care given to the sterilization of injecting equipment, and any discolored or leaking solution should not be used. For storage, the packaging should be maintained until opened, and soft bag products do not require ventilation, while vial products should only be vented immediately before use. Any leftover solution should be used within 24 hours, and if crystallization occurs, it should be appropriately warmed to dissolve and then cooled to body temperature before use.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a sealed container to prevent air from entering, and it is safe to store at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Therefore, it is advisable not to place it in very hot or very cold places.
This medication is an injection containing a colorless to pale yellow transparent solution in a water-based injectable container made of polypropylene material.
