Relief of moderate to severe acute and chronic pain
This medication is used effectively to relieve acute and chronic pain ranging from moderate to severe.
For children over 12 years and adults: Dosage is adjusted according to the level of pain and therapeutic response. An initial dose of 2 tablets is recommended, followed by a dosing interval of no less than 6 hours, ensuring not to exceed 8 tablets in one day. Administer the lowest effective dosage for the shortest duration necessary. Prevent unnecessary long-term administration of this medication; if prolonged administration is required due to the characteristics and severity of the condition, regular monitoring should be conducted to assess the continued need for this medication. Elderly Administer the usual adult dosage. However, for elderly patients over 75 years old, the oral administration of tramadol has been found to increase the elimination half-life by 17%, so administration should be spaced at least 6 hours apart. Renal Impairment Patients For patients with moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance of 10-30 ml/min), extend the dosing interval to 12 hours. In patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 10 ml/min), administration is not recommended. Tramadol is eliminated very slowly during dialysis or filtration, hence there is no need to readminister this medication after dialysis to maintain analgesic effects. Hepatic Impairment Patients For patients with moderate hepatic impairment, it is advisable to carefully consider extending the dosing interval. This medication should not be administered to patients with severe hepatic impairment.
This medication may burden the liver; therefore, those who regularly consume more than three glasses of alcohol daily should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking it. Caution is necessary due to the risk of liver damage. During the course of this medication, serious reactions such as skin rash or blisters may occur; if such symptoms arise, the medication should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be informed. The ingredients of this medication may induce seizures, thus those with a history of seizures or high risk of seizures should use it carefully. Particularly, when taken together with other specific antidepressants or central nervous system depressants, the risk of seizures may increase, so caution is required. For patients with severe respiratory diseases, this medication may suppress breathing and should only be used in a monitored medical environment. Taking this medication with alcohol or sedatives may result in severe drowsiness or respiratory depression, which could potentially lead to coma, so coadministration should be avoided. Patients with brain damage or elevated intracranial pressure should be cautious when taking this medication, as respiratory suppression and increased intracranial pressure may worsen symptoms. This medication can cause dependence, hence long-term use must be closely monitored for signs of dependence. Patients with impaired liver function should consult a doctor before taking this medication and avoid overdose of acetaminophen. Patients with certain genotypes may metabolize this medication rapidly, increasing the risk of respiratory depression; thus, dose adjustment or alternative medication may be necessary. Children under 12 or adolescents under 18 who have undergone specific surgeries should not use this medication, and adolescents aged 12 to 18 should avoid use if there are risk factors. Patients with sleep apnea or hypoxemia should continuously monitor for worsening symptoms while taking this medication and may need to reduce or discontinue the dose if necessary. This medication may rarely lower sodium levels in the blood; hence elderly patients or those with risk factors should monitor their condition through blood tests. This medication should not be administered to individuals allergic to its ingredients, those in severe respiratory depression or with brain damage, patients taking specific medications, or those with severe liver or kidney diseases. Drowsiness or dizziness may occur during treatment, so caution is necessary when driving or operating machinery. Overdose may lead to severe respiratory depression, seizures, liver damage, etc., so dosages must be strictly adhered to, and immediate medical attention should be sought in case of an emergency. Care must be taken not to concomitantly take other acetaminophen formulations or tramadol products while taking this medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and during breastfeeding, as it may transfer to the baby and pose risks, use should be avoided. This medication may interact with various drugs; therefore, it is essential to inform medical personnel of any other medications being taken.
