This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension who do not achieve adequate control with monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

The usual dose of this medication is one tablet of losartan potassium 50 mg/hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily. Dosages exceeding losartan potassium 100 mg/hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg per day are not advisable. Patients whose blood pressure is not controlled with monotherapy of losartan or hydrochlorothiazide should start with losartan potassium 50 mg/hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily.

Child dose

There is no experience of using this medication in children and adolescents; therefore, the combination of losartan-hydrochlorothiazide is not administered to children and adolescents.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it must be stopped immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This medication should not be used in patients with certain medical conditions or hypersensitivity, particularly those with severely impaired kidney function or pregnant women. Storage

This medication is sensitive to light and should be stored in a container that does not allow light to enter. Additionally, it is recommended to keep the medication at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. This way, the efficacy of the medication can be maintained longer.
