This medicine is used for the treatment of candidiasis vaginitis, trichomoniasis vaginitis, and vaginitis caused by non-specific and mixed infections. It is also used for local treatment to prevent infection before gynecological surgery. Thus, it is effectively utilized for the management of various women's vaginitis and preoperative infection.

How to use

Adult use

Insert 200 mg of povidone-iodine deep into the vagina once daily. It is preferable to insert it in the evening before bedtime. Adjust as appropriate according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to this medication or its components, patients with thyroid dysfunction, patients with poor kidney function, infants and neonates under 6 months of age, patients with herpetic dermatitis, and patients before and after radioactive iodine treatment should not be administered this drug. Moreover, caution should be taken when using this medication in severely ill patients or those with a history of thyroid disease and patients who had kidney function issues. Severe allergic reactions may occasionally occur while using this medication, so if respiratory difficulties, skin rashes, or itching arise, it should be discontinued immediately, and a doctor should be consulted. Skin irritation, pain, rash, redness, dermatitis, skin ulcers, etc., may occur, and use should be stopped if these symptoms worsen. Particularly when treating burns, large amounts can lead to electrolyte imbalances, kidney dysfunction, or metabolic acidosis, so caution is necessary. Long-term use may cause changes in thyroid hormone levels, and thyroid function tests may be needed. Excessive use may result in a metallic taste, burning sensation in the throat and mouth, eye irritation, skin reactions, gastrointestinal symptoms, and respiratory difficulties, so caution is required. This medication should not be used extensively or for long periods in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and checking thyroid function in neonates or infants is recommended. Also, it may affect thyroid function test results, so this should be reported during testing. Drug interactions should also be noted, and patients receiving lithium treatment are advised to avoid using this medication, as its effectiveness may be reduced when used with some disinfectants or wound care products. It should not be used for ophthalmic or systemic purposes, and care should be taken to avoid getting it in the eyes; if it does, it should be rinsed off immediately with clean water. Drug interactions
