Improvement of type 2 diabetes (blood sugar control)
This medication is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be administered alone or in combination with other hypoglycemic agents to enhance glycemic control, in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy. Particularly, if there is no improvement in blood sugar despite the use of other oral hypoglycemic agents, it can be administered in combination with sulfonylureas, metformin, or insulin. Additionally, nutritional counseling, weight loss, and exercise therapy are important not only for initial treatment but also for maintaining the effectiveness of drug therapy. This medication effectively improves blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
This medication is taken orally once a day regardless of meals. For monotherapy, it is initiated at 15 mg once a day, and if the effect is insufficient, it can be increased to 30 mg once a day. In combination therapy, the initial dose is also 15 mg once a day. The maximum recommended dose is 30 mg once a day.
The use in children under 18 years of age has not been experienced, so administration is not recommended.
This medication is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes and aids the effect of insulin. This medication may burden the heart, and should not be used in patients with congestive heart failure or those with a history of heart failure. After starting treatment, close observation is required for sudden weight gain, shortness of breath, and leg swelling, which are symptoms of heart failure; if such symptoms occur, consult a physician immediately. Patients with heart failure or symptoms of heart failure should not take this medication. This medication may cause fluid retention, which could worsen heart failure; therefore, consult with a physician if symptoms of fluid retention or edema occur. Patients with bladder cancer or a history of bladder cancer should not take this medication, and if urinary symptoms or hematuria occur during treatment, notify medical staff immediately. This medication is not to be administered to patients with poor liver and kidney function, and if liver dysfunction is suspected, regular liver function tests are recommended. There is a risk of hypoglycemia when taken with other diabetes medications such as sulfonylureas or insulin, so caution is advised, and if symptoms of hypoglycemia appear, immediate action should be taken. During treatment with this medication, side effects such as edema, weight gain, headache, upper respiratory infection may occur; if any abnormal symptoms persist or worsen, inform a doctor. For premenopausal women, this medication may induce ovulation, so effective contraception should be used due to the possibility of pregnancy. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication, and nursing mothers should consult medical personnel before taking it. Elderly patients, patients with poor nutritional status, and those with a history of cardiovascular disease should use this medication with caution. This medication should be taken once daily, and caution is advised to avoid taking a double dose the following day if a dose is missed. There may be drug interactions, so if you are taking other medications, be sure to inform your medical staff, especially if taking CYP2C8 inhibitors or inducers, as dosage adjustment may be necessary. In case of overdose, even if there are no specific symptoms, notify medical staff immediately for appropriate treatment. This medication has not been confirmed for safety and efficacy in children, so it is not used in this population.
Congestive heart failure, symptoms and signs of heart failure (including excessive and rapid weight change, breathlessness, edema), severe edema, severe allergic reactions (hives, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor), liver abnormalities (jaundice of the skin or eyes, impaired liver function, fatal and non-fatal liver failure), bladder cancer, severe neurological symptoms (stroke, myocardial infarction), respiratory problems (breathlessness, congestive heart failure)

This medication must be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent contact with air. It is important to maintain storage temperatures between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius.
