Adult dose
Losartan Potassium 50 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, one tablet once daily. A dose exceeding Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg per day is not advisable. If blood pressure is not controlled after 3 weeks of dosing, the dose may be increased up to the maximum of Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg, one tablet once daily. For patients with renal impairment, if the creatinine clearance is 30 mL/min or higher, the usual dose can be administered.
Child dose
Due to lack of experience in use in children and adolescents, the losartan-hydrochlorothiazide combination should not be administered to children and adolescents.

This medication is used for patients with hypertension who find it difficult to control blood pressure with monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

Losartan Potassium 50 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, one tablet once daily. A dose exceeding Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg per day is not advisable. If blood pressure is not controlled after 3 weeks of dosing, the dose may be increased up to the maximum of Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg, one tablet once daily. For patients with renal impairment, if the creatinine clearance is 30 mL/min or higher, the usual dose can be administered.

Child dose

Due to lack of experience in use in children and adolescents, the losartan-hydrochlorothiazide combination should not be administered to children and adolescents.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This medication should not be administered to patients with certain allergies or severely impaired kidney function, patients with severe liver disorders, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and patients with certain electrolyte imbalances. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients with very low blood pressure or abnormalities in renal blood vessels, liver function impairment, systemic lupus erythematosus, elderly patients, etc., as it may increase the risk of skin cancer, and exposure to sunlight should be avoided while regularly monitoring skin conditions. During treatment with this medication, blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels should be regularly checked for abnormalities, particularly to avoid excessively high or low potassium levels. Some patients may experience side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, cough, skin rash, abdominal pain, etc.; if symptoms are severe, consult a physician. This medication may interact with other medicines, so if you are taking any other medications, you must inform your healthcare provider, and it is advisable to avoid grapefruit juice. Caution is also needed for women who are breastfeeding, and it is necessary to discuss with your healthcare provider whether to continue taking the medication or to stop breastfeeding. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children and adolescents have not been established, so it is not used in these populations. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, so caution is required during driving or operating machinery. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, changes in heart rate may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought; emergency care will be required. Lastly, keep this medication out of the reach of children, store it in its original container, and do not transfer it to other containers.
