Treatment of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, relief of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, and improvement of gastrointestinal disorders
This medication is effective for gastrointestinal ulcer diseases such as gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. It also helps relieve the symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease and is used for long-term maintenance therapy of such gastroesophageal reflux disease. In patients infected with Helicobacter pylori, it contributes to the treatment of gastrointestinal ulcers when used in combination with antibiotics. Additionally, it is used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome to improve problems caused by excessive gastric acid secretion. Overall, this drug helps in the treatment and symptom relief of various gastrointestinal diseases.
For gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers: Administer 10 mg orally once a day; may increase to 20 mg once daily based on symptoms. Typically, for gastric ulcers, it is used for up to 8 weeks; for duodenal ulcers, it is used for up to 6 weeks. For erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: Administer 10mg or 20mg once a day for 4-8 weeks. If untreated, an additional 8 weeks of 10mg or 20mg may be administered twice a day. For those with unresolved symptoms, 10mg or 20mg can be continued for an additional 8 weeks. For symptom relief of gastroesophageal reflux disease: Administer 10mg once daily; if symptoms are not controlled after 4 weeks, further evaluation is necessary. Once symptoms resolve, on-demand therapy with 10mg once daily can be used to manage future symptoms. For long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease: Administer 10mg or 20mg orally once daily depending on the patient. For Helicobacter pylori eradication: Patients infected with Helicobacter pylori should undergo eradication therapy. It is recommended to administer 20 mg of this drug combined with clarithromycin 500 mg and amoxicillin 1 g twice a day for 7 days. For Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: The recommended initial dose for adults is 60 mg once daily. The dose can be adjusted up to 120 mg based on individual patient needs. Doses of 100 mg can be given once daily, while 120 mg should be divided into 60 mg doses twice daily. Patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome have experienced treatment with this drug for up to one year. In patients with liver impairment, adverse reactions of hepatic encephalopathy have been reported, hence cautious administration is required. In children, safety has not been established. In older adults, caution should be exercised due to frequent liver function impairment.

This medication should not be used in patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to specific components or benzimidazoles. Additionally, caution is required for individuals sensitive to penicillin and macrolide antibiotics if using this medication. It is safe for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding to avoid using this medication. Patients with liver dysfunction, elderly individuals, and those with a history of drug allergies should use this drug with caution. This medication can cause allergic reactions such as skin rash, hives, and itching, so it should be discontinued immediately if these symptoms occur. Regular blood tests and liver function tests are important to detect any abnormal signs early. Side effects can occur in various areas, including the heart, gastrointestinal tract, nervous system, respiratory system, and skin, so patients should consult a doctor if symptoms appear. Prolonged use of this medication may increase the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, so caution is necessary during long-term use. It may also lower blood magnesium levels with prolonged use, requiring regular monitoring and potential supplementation. This drug inhibits gastric acid secretion and may increase the risk of certain bacterial infections, so patients should inform their healthcare provider if diarrhea persists. Caution is also advised while driving or operating machinery, as drowsiness may occur. There may be drug interactions, so it is essential to inform your doctor about any other medications being taken, especially when used in conjunction with antibiotics or antivirals. This drug should not be chewed or crushed and must be swallowed whole at once. Keep it out of reach of children, and it is recommended not to transfer it to other containers. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use this medication, and elderly patients should be cautious due to potential side effects owing to decreased liver function. Safety in children has not been sufficiently established, warranting careful use. There is no specific antidote for overdose; symptomatic treatment should be administered based on the symptoms.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture, and the storage temperature should be maintained between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature.
