This medication is primarily used to improve gastrointestinal functional abnormalities such as gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting caused by gastritis and duodenitis. It is also effective in alleviating symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and colonic spasm. In children, it helps treat habitual vomiting and non-infectious gastrointestinal pain and disturbances including constipation and diarrhea. By improving the symptoms of various gastrointestinal diseases, it contributes to enhancing the quality of life of patients.

How to take

Adult dose

As Trimethobutin Maleate, take 100-200mg orally three times a day before meals. Adjust dosage as necessary based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication may affect the gastrointestinal system and can rarely cause symptoms such as constipation or diarrhea, abdominal gas, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, dry mouth, and oral numbness. Additionally, symptoms such as rapid heartbeat may occur rarely. Rarely, symptoms related to the central nervous system such as fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headaches may appear. It may also affect liver function, with a possibility of increased liver enzyme levels. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes may occur, so if such symptoms arise, the medication should be discontinued. The safety of this drug during pregnancy is not established; therefore, pregnant women or women of childbearing potential should only use it when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. Nursing mothers should also avoid using this medication if possible, and if it is necessary to take it, it is advised to discontinue breastfeeding. Additionally, this medication contains the dye Yellow No. 4, so individuals who are allergic to this ingredient or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions should use it with caution.
