(Hypertension, Angina) Improvement of myocardial ischemia and reduction of risk for (cardiovascular diseases)
This medication is used for patients who need to take both amlodipine and atorvastatin together. Amlodipine is mainly effective for the treatment of hypertension, stable angina, and myocardial ischemia caused by vasospasm. It also lowers the risk of hospitalization due to angina and reduces the risk associated with coronary artery procedures. Atorvastatin reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases, particularly helping to lower the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke. This medication is also used in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia, aiding in the regulation of cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Through the combination therapy of these two medications, the risk of cardiovascular diseases can be effectively managed.
For adults, Amlodipine (Es-Amlodipine) is administered orally at a starting dose of 1 time per day at 5(2.5) mg, and may be increased to a maximum of 10(5) mg per day based on the patient's response. Adjustments should be made according to symptoms. Atorvastatin is started at a dose of 10 mg once daily and may be increased to 20 mg or 40 mg if necessary, within the dosing range of 10 mg to 80 mg once daily depending on treatment goals and responses.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to this drug or similar drugs, those with severe liver dysfunction, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, breastfeeding women, and patients with severe muscle disorders should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with very poor kidney function, elderly patients, alcoholics, or those with a history of liver disease should take special care while using this medication. In cases where there is a risk of muscle-related diseases, muscle enzyme levels should be checked before taking this medication, and the condition should be closely monitored. This medication typically has good tolerability; however, side effects such as fatigue, dizziness, headaches, abdominal pain, muscle pain, and skin rashes may occur during treatment. If severe side effects are suspected, medical personnel should be notified immediately. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not take this medication, and if pregnancy is confirmed during use, it should be stopped immediately, and a doctor should be consulted. It is also recommended for breastfeeding women to discontinue breastfeeding while taking this medication. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if the patient is currently taking any other medications, they must inform their doctor or pharmacist. Caution is especially needed when taken with drugs that affect liver function or increase the risk of muscle disorders. In case of overdose, severe hypotension, shock, heart problems, etc., may occur; therefore, the dosage must be strictly adhered to, and in case of overdose, immediate medical attention should be sought. Safety for children and the elderly has not been adequately established; therefore, patients in these age groups should take this medication according to their doctor’s instructions. Finally, this medication should be stored out of the reach of children, and it is crucial for maintaining quality not to transfer it to another container.
