This medication is used for herpes simplex virus infections, particularly for initial and recurrent genital herpes and oral herpes. It is effective for treating symptoms of herpes related to blisters that occur on the lips or genital area. This helps alleviate discomfort and improve symptoms for the patient.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Apply this medication to the affected area approximately every 4 hours, 5 times a day. Treatment should continue for 5 days, and if not resolved after 5 days, it may be used for an additional 5 days.

Precautions

This medication is not safe for use in certain patients. First, individuals who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients, or are sensitive to chemicals, should not use it. Additionally, it is advisable not to administer this medication to breastfeeding women or children. Patients with weakened immune systems, such as those with AIDS or bone marrow transplant patients, should exercise special caution when using this medication.
