For patients with chronic kidney disease, it is recommended to limit daily dietary protein intake to 40g or less to reduce physical damage caused by incomplete protein metabolism. This helps to reduce the burden on the kidneys and may slow the deterioration of kidney function. Controlled protein intake can assist in improving the health status of patients.
How to take
Adult dose
Typically, for a 70kg adult, in conjunction with a low-protein diet (0.3-0.4g protein/kg/day), take 4-8 tablets per dose, three times a day during meals without chewing.
Precautions
This medication should not be administered to patients with hypercalcemia, those with amino acid metabolism disorders, or those with a hypersensitivity to any ingredients in this medication. Especially in cases of metabolic disorders such as phenylketonuria, it should be avoided due to the presence of phenylalanine in this medication. While taking this medication, hypercalcemia may occur, so it is necessary to decrease vitamin D intake and regularly check serum calcium levels. In addition, digestive disorders such as upper abdominal discomfort can occur rarely. Domestic investigations have reported adverse reactions such as indigestion, nausea, constipation, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and headaches in some patients. Care should be taken when this medication is taken along with other calcium-containing preparations, as serum calcium levels can increase. Elevated blood calcium levels can increase the risk of cardiac arrhythmias, so it's especially important to be cautious when combined with cardiac glycosides. Moreover, serum phosphate levels may decrease during the use of this medication, which may necessitate dose adjustments of phosphate binders. When taken with antibiotics or iron supplements that bind with calcium, it is advisable to space the doses by at least 2 hours to avoid absorption interference. If other medications are being used, it is imperative to consult the attending physician or pharmacist. Safety for children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers has not been established, so caution is advised when using this drug. This medication should be taken in conjunction with a low-protein diet, and as protein intake decreases, energy intake may also reduce; therefore, maintaining sufficient caloric intake of more than 35 kcal/kg per day is crucial. For optimal absorption and metabolism of amino acids, it is advisable to take this medication during meals.
