Treatment of acute and chronic renal failure (peritoneal dialysis), detoxification effects in drug poisoning
This medication is used for peritoneal dialysis in patients with acute and chronic renal failure and aids in the detoxification of drug poisoning when other treatments have been ineffective. It is also used to alleviate discomfort caused by low pH that may occur during dialysis when infused with lactate alone.
Administered intraperitoneally for dialysis treatment. For adults, inject 2.0 to 2.5L once. Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) is performed 4 times a day (24 hours), and Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD) is done 4-5 cycles at night using a machine, with a maximum of 2 times during the day.
This medication is used for peritoneal dialysis, and sudden cessation of dialysis may pose a risk to life due to the inability to replace kidney function. It should not be used in patients with a hole in the diaphragm, abdominal burns, severe inflammation, surgery, or tumors in the abdomen. Moreover, it should be avoided in patients with bleeding risks, lactate metabolism disorders, severe electrolyte imbalances, severe lung disease, or sepsis. Those taking digitalis drugs, having glucose metabolism abnormalities, using colostomy, or on diuretics should have regular blood tests and status checks while using this medication. Pregnant women or immunocompromised patients, as well as patients with peritonitis, should be carefully administered, and caution is required in those with a corn allergy. Various side effects can occur during the peritoneal dialysis process, such as abdominal pain, peritonitis, electrolyte imbalance, hyperglycemia, and respiratory distress, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported to healthcare personnel immediately. The dialysis solution must be used in a sterile condition, and if the solution is discolored or cloudy, it should not be used. Overdosage may lead to dehydration, electrolyte disturbances, and hyperglycemia, which require immediate medical action. This medication should be used cautiously in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and dosage adjustments and caution are necessary for pediatric and elderly patients. Also, during peritoneal dialysis, various indicators such as weight, serum electrolytes, blood glucose, parathyroid hormone, etc., should be monitored regularly. There may be potential interactions with other medications, so if other medications are taken, consulting healthcare professionals is crucial. When storing, keep it out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and dispose of any remaining solution after use.
