  • Acute and chronic renal failure
  • drug poisoning
  • discomfort caused by low pH
View approved original text

This medication is used as a peritoneal dialysis solution for patients with acute and chronic renal failure. It is also used for detoxification in cases of drug poisoning caused by dialysis substances that are ineffective in other treatments. Additionally, it helps to reduce patient discomfort caused by low pH when injecting a dialysis solution made solely of lactate. Therefore, it is effective for renal failure treatment, drug poisoning detoxification, and alleviation of dialysis-related discomfort.

How it is given

Adult administration

Instilled intraperitoneally for dialysis treatment, with a single injection of 2.0–2.5L. In Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD), it is performed four times a day (24 hours), while Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD) is performed 4-5 cycles overnight and up to 2 times during the day.

Precautions

This medication is used for peritoneal dialysis treatment and helps in removing waste and excess fluids from the body through the peritoneum. Discontinuing peritoneal dialysis prematurely can pose a threat to life if no other renal replacement therapy is performed, so caution is needed. This medication should not be administered to patients with certain conditions, such as diaphragm defects, abdominal burns, severe peritoneal adhesions, bleeding tendencies, lactate metabolism disorders, severe electrolyte imbalances, recent abdominal surgery or trauma, inflammatory bowel disease, abdominal fistula, intra-abdominal tumors, abdominal hernias, intestinal obstructions, severe respiratory diseases, sepsis, severe lipid metabolism disorders, and patients with difficult uremia control, cachexia, and severe weight loss, as well as patients who cannot comply with medical instructions and those with impaired peritoneal function. Furthermore, it should be used cautiously in patients taking digitalis preparations, suspected of having glucose metabolism disorders, with lumbar disorders, those using an artificial anus, patients on diuretics, those with severe ventilation disorders, severe obesity, steroid users, immune-deficient patients, pregnant women, patients with peritonitis, patients with hyperparathyroidism, those with high lactate levels, and patients with corn allergies, requiring regular monitoring. Adverse reactions such as peritonitis, abdominal pain, electrolyte imbalance, metabolic disorders, respiratory symptoms, endocrine abnormalities, edema, muscle cramps, dehydration, blood pressure abnormalities, skin rash, etc., may appear during administration of this medication, so caution is warranted. During dialysis, maintain a sterile environment, regularly check the patient's weight, nutritional status, and blood test results to manage fluid balance and electrolyte status. Also, this product contains dextrose, so diabetic patients should pay particular attention to blood sugar control, and caution should be taken with patients who have corn allergies due to the risk of hypersensitivity. Overdosage may cause dehydration, electrolyte abnormalities, and hyperglycemia, requiring immediate treatment, and peritoneal dialysis solutions must be handled aseptically and not used if discolored or cloudy or if the container is damaged. Use should be cautious for pregnant women, nursing mothers, children, and the elderly, particularly in children requiring dosage adjustments. During the use of this medication, consider potential interactions with other medications and discuss current medications and conditions with healthcare providers.
