Treatment of acute bacterial diarrhea
Acute bacterial diarrhea is a sudden onset of diarrhea symptoms mainly caused by bacterial infections. This medication is used to treat such bacterial diarrhea.
Adults: Take 200 mg of nifuroxazide per dose, 4 times daily. Do not take for more than 3 days. Maintain hydration during treatment, and adjust the amount and method of fluid replacement according to the severity of diarrhea and the patient's age and condition.
This medication should be considered for intravenous fluid replacement if there are severe and persistent diarrhea or vomiting cases, or if food refusal occurs, as this may lead to dehydration. Individuals with an allergic reaction to this medication, children and adolescents under 18 years of age, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, and breastfeeding women should not take this medication. During the course of treatment, it is advisable to avoid raw vegetables, fruits, green vegetables, spicy foods, and frozen foods and beverages that may worsen diarrhea symptoms, and to consume cooked meat or rice instead. If skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or neck due to angioedema, or severe allergic reactions occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and medical advice should be sought. Additionally, if diarrhea persists after two days of treatment, the treatment plan should be reviewed, and oral or intravenous fluid replacement should be performed if necessary. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should avoid this medication as the safety of its effects on the fetus has not been adequately established, and it is also advisable for fertile women who are not using effective contraception to refrain from taking it. Breastfeeding women are advised against using this medication as it may be secreted in breast milk and could affect the baby's intestinal microflora. Due to loss of fluids and electrolytes from diarrhea, it is important to maintain adequate hydration by drinking solutions that contain sugar and salt. In cases of overdose, as there is no specific antidote, symptoms should be closely monitored and necessary treatment should be sought. In case of severe diarrhea symptoms caused by an infection, antibiotic treatment may be necessary, so consultation with medical personnel is advised. This medication does not affect driving or the operation of machinery, so it does not interfere with daily activities. Keep the medication out of the reach of children, and store it in its original container, away from direct sunlight, in a cool place with low humidity.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should avoid raw vegetables, fruits, green vegetables, spicy foods, frozen foods, and beverages during diarrhea. It is advisable to consume cooked foods (meat, rice) if possible.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture, ideally at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way will help maintain the medication's effectiveness over time.
