This medication is used to relieve gastrointestinal symptoms such as stomach pain, heartburn, indigestion, and nausea.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Adults (over 15 and under 80) should take 2 tablets at a time; if symptoms do not improve after more than 5 hours, take another 2 tablets. However, do not exceed 2 doses (4 tablets) in a day.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients receiving treatment for blood disorders, kidney or liver diseases, stomach or duodenal diseases, asthma, or immune system diseases such as rheumatism. This medication may cause blood abnormalities, such as leukopenia or thrombocytopenia, therefore it is advisable for individuals with a history of anemia, thrombocytopenia, and leukopenia not to use it. Individuals with hypersensitivity to histamine H2-receptor antagonists should also refrain from taking this medication. Caution is required in children, especially those under 15 years old, and in elderly patients over 80, as safety has not been established in these populations. It is safest for women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding not to take this medication. Patients undergoing dialysis treatment should also avoid using this medication. This medication contains lactose; therefore, individuals with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance or galactose intolerance should avoid it. Furthermore, patients who are receiving medical treatment or taking other medications should use this medication cautiously, as drug interactions may lead to side effects or reduced efficacy. Individuals with a history of drug hypersensitivity should exercise caution as well. Elderly patients over 65 may experience decreased physiological functions, so caution is needed when taking this medication. If experiencing symptoms such as sore throat, cough, or high fever, there may be a serious infection, thus this medication may exacerbate symptoms or mask side effects; careful administration is necessary. In cases of unexplained weight loss or persistent abdominal pain, other conditions may be present, hence it is advisable to consult a physician before use. This medication contains Yellow No. 5 dye; therefore, individuals with allergies or hypersensitivity to this component should be cautious. If allergy symptoms, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, headaches, dizziness, muscle pain, etc. occur during use, cease taking the medication immediately and consult a professional. If experiencing chest tightness, pale complexion, cold hands and feet, or cold sweat, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately. Severe rashes or blisters, sore throat, fever, malaise, tendency to bleed, or jaundice symptoms alongside high fever require immediate cessation of the medication and consultation with a physician. If symptoms do not improve after 3 days of use, discontinue and seek advice due to the possibility of other conditions. It should not be taken for more than two weeks, and it is advisable not to combine it with alcoholic beverages. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage, nor use this medication for other symptoms. Patients with a history of kidney disease should consult a professional prior to taking this medication. The antacid components contained in this medication may interact with certain antibiotics, so it is safest not to combine them. Taking this medication with other gastrointestinal medications may exacerbate side effects, so be cautious to avoid simultaneous use. Store out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and keep in a cool, dry place to store this medication.

Side effects and when to seek care immediately

Serious side effects

  • Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, breathlessness, cold sweat, paleness
  • Severe rash, redness with high fever, blisters from heat, skin peeling, pain in mouth and throat
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)

Mild side effects

Rash, redness, itching, swelling, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, muscle pain, sore throat, malaise, easy bleeding (such as cervical bleeding or nasal bleeding)

Storage

This medication should be stored in a sealed container to protect it from air and moisture, ideally at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C. Storing it this way will maintain the medication’s efficacy and safety for use.
