Effect on controlling hypertension and preventing cardiovascular complications
This medication is used to treat hypertension.
Administer 1 tablet orally once a day. For patients with renal impairment, reduce the dose or increase the dosing interval. Adjust the atenolol dose based on creatinine clearance. (15-35 mL/min/1.73㎡ : 50 mg daily, <15 mL/min/1.73㎡ : 50 mg on alternate days) Adjust appropriately according to age and symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to certain ingredients or sulfonamide drugs. It should not be administered to patients with extremely slow heart rates, conduction problems of the heart, cardiogenic shock, low blood pressure, metabolic acidosis, and severely poor peripheral blood circulation. Additionally, this medication should not be used in patients with autonomic dysfunction syndrome, pheochromocytoma, difficult-to-control heart failure, patients with very little urine output, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. This medication contains lactose, so it should not be used by individuals with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, galactose intolerance, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. For patients with well-controlled heart failure, it should be used cautiously, and those with very weak cardiac function should be particularly careful. Patients with asthma or obstructive airway disease may experience bronchospasm, so they must consult a physician before taking this medication. Patients with severe liver or kidney dysfunction and those with electrolyte imbalances should also be administered with caution. During use, there may be a decrease in heart rate or excessively low blood pressure, so if these symptoms occur, consult a physician immediately. This medication may mask the symptoms of hyperthyroidism, so caution should be taken in patients with thyroid diseases. Patients with heart disease should not suddenly stop this medication and should follow their physician's instructions for gradual adjustment. Patients with severe allergic reactions may find that treatments such as adrenaline may be less effective when taking this medication, so caution is advised. Hypokalemia or hyperuricemia may occur during use, and patients with a predisposition to diabetes should routinely check their blood glucose control status. This medication does not significantly affect driving or operating machinery, but occasional dizziness or fatigue may occur, so caution is recommended. Interactions may occur when used in conjunction with other medications, particularly antiarrhythmics, anesthetics, lithium, calcium channel blockers, clonidine, digitalis, adrenaline, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, insulin or oral hypoglycemics, so you must consult a physician. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid using this medication due to the risks to the fetus and newborn; if unavoidable, breastfeeding should be discontinued. Safety in children has not been established, so it is better to avoid use in this population. In case of overdose, symptoms such as decreased heart rate, low blood pressure, worsening heart failure, and bronchospasm may appear, and immediate medical treatment should be sought. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in the original container with a seal.

This medication may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it must be stored in a tightly closed container. It is best to maintain a storage temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius (room temperature). This will help maintain the medication's effectiveness for a long time.
