Treatment of eye infections such as blepharitis and conjunctivitis
This drug is effective against various types of bacteria, particularly affecting harmful bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli. Based on this, it is used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases around the eyes, including blepharitis, dacryocystitis, stye, conjunctivitis, keratitis, and corneal ulcers. It plays an important role in effectively improving these infectious diseases, alleviating patient symptoms and aiding recovery.
For mild to moderate infections, instill 1 to 2 drops in the infected area every 4 hours. For severe infections, instill 2 drops every hour until symptoms improve, then gradually reduce the dosage. Adjust according to age and symptoms.
This medication is an aminoglycoside antibiotic and should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to specific antibiotics or this drug. During use, discomfort such as itching, redness, and pain in the eyes may occur, and rarely symptoms such as headaches or skin rashes may also develop. Long-term use of this medication may lead to resistant bacteria, so it is advisable to use it only for the necessary minimum duration. Prior to administration, it is important to confirm whether any allergic reactions exist, and if hypersensitivity occurs, discontinue use immediately. If wearing contact lenses, they should be removed prior to administration as this drug may discolor or irritate the lenses, and they can be reinserted after some time. After instillation, temporary blurred vision may occur, so driving or operating machinery should be avoided until vision returns to normal. This drug may affect neuromuscular function, so caution is needed for patients with myasthenia gravis or Parkinson's disease. Patients taking anticoagulants may experience an increased risk of bleeding when using this drug, so periodic checks of blood coagulation status are necessary. During pregnancy, it should be used only if necessary, considering the potential effects on the fetus, and for nursing mothers, careful consideration of its effects on the baby is essential. In case of overdose, inflammation, swelling, or itching in the eyes may appear; if these symptoms occur, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is required. This medication is intended for ophthalmic use only, should be completed within 4 weeks of opening, and when not in use, the bottle should be tightly closed to maintain cleanliness. During administration, care should be taken to avoid contamination by ensuring that the tip of the container does not touch the eye or surrounding area.
