This medication neutralizes stomach acid, providing an antacid effect, and improves symptoms such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis, and heartburn due to excess stomach acid. It also helps to relieve digestive discomfort such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and belching. Therefore, it is effectively used for various gastric-related symptoms and conditions.
Adults and children over 12 years old should take 1 g of Almagate orally three times a day, 30 minutes to 1 hour after meals, chewing it well. If necessary, an additional dose may be taken before bedtime.
This medication should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to this drug or its ingredients. Additionally, patients with Alzheimer’s disease, hemorrhoids, fluid retention, pregnancy toxemia, diarrhea, and gastrointestinal bleeding of unknown cause should not take this medication. It is advisable not to take tetracycline antibiotics while taking this medication, as it may interfere with the absorption of the antibiotic. Individuals on other medications must consult with a doctor or pharmacist before taking this drug, as it may affect the absorption or excretion of drugs in the gastrointestinal tract. Particularly, it is recommended to take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, ulcer treatments, digitalis preparations, chlorpromazine, lansoprazole, prednisolone, penicillin, quinolone, iron preparations, etc., with time intervals from this drug. Those taking salicylates should be cautious as this medication may increase drug excretion in the kidneys. Patients with impaired kidney function should consult a doctor before long-term use, as there is a risk of accumulation of magnesium or aluminum in the body. Also, individuals who are weak or have a low phosphorus diet, or those with malabsorption issues should be cautious, as the ingredients in this medication may interfere with phosphorus absorption and affect bone health. Elderly patients, those with symptoms of gastrointestinal bleeding, pregnant women, or nursing mothers should consult a professional before taking this medication. If constipation or diarrhea occurs during use or if symptoms do not improve in more than two weeks, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. This medication must be taken according to the prescribed dosage and should be administered to children under the supervision of a guardian. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children, in its original container, and tightly closed. Avoid direct sunlight and store in a cool, dry place to help maintain the quality of the medication.
