This medication is effective for primary hyperlipidemia, specifically for the combined type of hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia. It also helps reduce the risk of myocardial infarction and mortality from coronary heart disease in high-risk male patients with hypercholesterolemia or mixed hypercholesterolemia. This group includes individuals with a history of vascular disease or risk factors such as diabetes, smoking, and hypertension. It is also used to reduce the risk of recurrent myocardial infarction, the need for cardiovascular surgery, ischemic stroke, and transient ischemic attacks in patients with a history of myocardial infarction or unstable angina. Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to patients who are allergic to it, patients with severe liver dysfunction, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, children, patients with severe renal or liver dysfunction, and patients with muscle disorders. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so it should not be used in patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic diseases. Caution is required for patients with severe liver or kidney disorders, those taking certain other medications, patients who consume alcohol excessively, and patients with myasthenia. During treatment with this medication, skin rash, indigestion, liver function abnormalities, and muscle pain may occur, and if symptoms arise, the doctor should be consulted immediately. In particular, serious muscle-related adverse reactions such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis may occur; if muscle pain, weakness, or fever occurs, medical personnel should be notified immediately. This medication is primarily metabolized in the liver, so regular liver function tests should be performed, and if signs of liver damage occur, the use should be discontinued. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication, and if planning to become pregnant or if pregnancy is confirmed, they should stop taking it immediately. Safety and efficacy in children under 18 years have not been established, so it is not used in this population.
