This medication is used to relieve pain and muscle stiffness caused by musculoskeletal disorders. It is effective against painful muscle spasms such as in rotator cuff syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, and low back pain. Additionally, it helps with rigid paralysis caused by neurological disorders and treats muscle stiffness resulting from sequelae of cerebrovascular disorders, cerebral palsy, and spinal cord injuries. This medicine relaxes muscle tension and alleviates pain to improve the patient's mobility. Therefore, it is used to treat muscle stiffness and pain associated with musculoskeletal and neurological diseases.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Those who are allergic to this medicine should not take it. Patients with severe muscle weakness due to myasthenia gravis should also avoid this medication. Additionally, this drug contains lactose, so individuals with a genetic disorder that prevents them from digesting lactose should avoid taking it. Patients with a history of drug allergies should exercise caution when using this medicine. Patients with liver function problems need to be careful as this medication may exacerbate liver function issues. Rarely, shock reactions may occur during the administration of this medication; thus, symptoms should be carefully monitored. As liver enzymes may rise abnormally, regular liver function tests are recommended. It may also affect kidney function, so patients should receive kidney-related tests and cease use if unusual symptoms arise. Anemia may appear in blood tests, so immediate consultation with health care personnel is required if symptoms manifest. Skin rashes or itching may occur, necessitating close observation of skin conditions. In the nervous system, symptoms such as insomnia, drowsiness, and headache may arise, and rarely, muscle stiffness or tremors may occur. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, and abdominal pain, thus necessitating caution if symptoms occur. In the urinary system, difficulties in urination may develop, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported. Systemically, feelings of weakness or dizziness may manifest, requiring care during daily activities. Some patients may experience facial flushing, sweating, or swelling. Severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis can occur infrequently, requiring immediate action. Serious skin disorders such as toxic epidermal necrolysis and mucocutaneous ocular syndrome may arise, so if fever, skin rash, blisters, itching, or eye redness occurs, the medication should be discontinued immediately and a medical facility should be visited. If symptoms such as weakness, staggering, or drowsiness occur during treatment, the dose should be reduced or the medication discontinued. Since this medication may cause drowsiness or decreased concentration, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Caution is necessary when taking it with similar medications such as tolperisone hydrochloride or methocarbamol, as it may cause difficulties in visual adjustment. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits of treatment are deemed greater than the risks. Nursing mothers should ideally avoid taking it, and in cases where it is unavoidable, discontinuation of breastfeeding is recommended. Safety in children has not been adequately established, so special care is necessary when administering it to children. In the elderly, body functions may be impaired, so careful dosage adjustments are necessary.
