Treatment of allergic and inflammatory skin diseases (eczema, contact dermatitis, etc.) and first-degree burns.
This medication is used for eczema, contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, photodermatitis, chronic simple eczema, lichen simplex, exfoliative dermatitis, as well as for itching and psoriasis associated with allergic or inflammatory skin diseases along with secondary infections. It is also effective for the treatment of first-degree burns. It helps alleviate the symptoms by suppressing inflammation and infections of these skin conditions.
Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area 1 to 3 times a day.
This medication should not be used in patients with bacterial, fungal, viral, or animal skin infections as symptoms may worsen. Patients who are allergic or hypersensitive to this drug or its components should also avoid using it. In cases of eczema in patients with tympanic membrane perforation, healing may be delayed, thus it should not be used. For patients with ulcers or severe burns or frostbite, skin regeneration may be inhibited leading to delayed healing, so it should not be used. Patients with perioral dermatitis, common acne, or rosacea should also avoid this medication. If there is hypersensitivity to aminoglycoside antibiotics or bacitracin, it should not be used due to the possibility of cross-reactivity. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant and nursing mothers should consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. It is advisable to consult a specialist when using in children and infants. If any symptoms of infection, irritation, itching, rash, redness, skin dryness, pustules, or allergic reactions appear during use, discontinue immediately and consult a specialist. Long-term use may result in side effects such as skin atrophy, acne, pigmentation changes, and if symptoms occur, dosage should be reduced or switched to another medication. This drug may cause systemic side effects such as suppression of pituitary and adrenal function when used extensively or for prolonged periods. Caution is needed as using it around the eyes may lead to increased intraocular pressure or glaucoma. Dosage and administration should be strictly adhered to, especially in children where it should be used under parental supervision. Local corticosteroids may be absorbed systemically, so regular monitoring, including blood tests, may be necessary. Treatment duration varies depending on symptoms and lesions, but if improvement is not observed within 3-4 weeks, it should be discontinued and other causes should be sought. Once symptoms improve, it is best to stop using it as soon as possible. Excessive use, prolonged use, or occlusive dressing may increase the risk of systemic side effects and should be avoided unless specially indicated. If any allergic symptoms or hypersensitivity reactions emerge during use, it should be discontinued immediately and a professional consulted. For pregnant or nursing mothers, the safety of this medication has not been established, thus risks versus benefits should be carefully evaluated before use. In children, due to larger body surface area to weight ratio, there is a higher risk of side effects, so the minimal effective dose should be used. Care should be taken as environments similar to occlusive dressing may be created due to diaper use. Excessive use of topical steroids can potentially cause serious side effects such as adrenal insufficiency and Cushing's syndrome, hence long-term use should be avoided. In psoriasis patients, prolonged and excessive use may lead to psoriasiform erythroderma or pustular psoriasis. This medication should not be used for ophthalmic purposes and should not be used for purposes other than treatment, such as after cosmetics or shaving. Occlusive dressing should strictly be used under medical supervision, and the affected area should be cleaned beforehand to reduce the risk of infection. Store out of reach of children, and keep in its original container sealed.
