The initial dose of trazodone hydrochloride is 150 mg taken orally once daily and increased by 50 mg every 3 to 4 days. Outpatients should not exceed 400 mg per day, and hospitalized patients (with severe depression) should not exceed 600 mg per day. This medication must be taken after meals or snacks. Precautions

This drug is primarily used as an antidepressant to treat symptoms associated with depression. While taking this medication, there may be a risk of dangerous behaviors such as suicidal thoughts or attempts, so young patients, especially those between 18 and 24 years old, should be monitored more closely. If prolonged erection occurs, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. This drug should not be used in specific patients, such as those with allergies to this drug or its components, patients taking MAO inhibitors, children under 18 years old, patients with acute myocardial infarction, patients with alcohol or sedative addiction, and certain genetically lactose-intolerant patients. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should exercise caution when taking this medication, and if breastfeeding, it is advisable to either avoid taking the medication or to discontinue breastfeeding if possible.
