Patients with thyroid function issues, especially those with conditions like nodular goiter or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, should avoid using this medication. This drug should also not be administered to patients with reduced kidney function or to infants under 6 months old. Patients with herpetic dermatitis or those undergoing radioactive iodine treatment before or after should also avoid this drug for safety. Patients with severe illnesses or a history of thyroid disorders and renal failure should use this drug with caution. If severe allergic reactions such as difficulty breathing or hives occur while using this drug, it should be discontinued immediately, and a doctor should be consulted. It is also advisable to stop use if pain, itching, rash, or irritation on the skin occurs, or if wound healing is poor. Particularly for patients with extensive burns, hydration, kidney function, and metabolic status should be closely monitored, and use should be stopped if problems arise. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid using this drug extensively or over a long time, as it could affect the thyroid function of the fetus or newborn. This drug may affect thyroid function test results, so it’s important to allow intervals between use and testing. With extensive use, it may cause a metallic taste or burning sensation in the throat and mouth, as well as symptoms such as difficulty breathing, so caution is needed. Care should be taken to prevent this drug from getting into the eyes; if it does, it should be rinsed immediately with clean water. When used with other medications, the effectiveness may decrease or side effects may increase, so especially patients receiving lithium therapy are advised to avoid its use. If symptoms such as sudden severe itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing appear after use, a medical institution should be visited immediately. This drug should be stored away from direct sunlight, and caution is needed as it may corrode if stored in a metal container. When using, the affected area should be thoroughly disinfected, and since soaps may weaken the antibacterial effect, they should be thoroughly rinsed off before use.
