This medication helps relieve constipation and facilitates the smooth excretion of intestinal contents. Therefore, it is used for individuals who have difficulty or irregularities in bowel movements.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Administer 15g (30ml) per dose rectally as a glycerin enema.

Children's dosage

For ages 6-11 years, administer 10g (20ml) per dose; for ages 1-5 years, administer 5g (10ml) per dose; for less than 1 year, administer 2.5g (5ml) per dose via rectal administration. Dosage should be adjusted appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a perforation of the intestine or suspected perforation. Patients with gastrointestinal bleeding should also avoid using this medication. It should not be administered to patients with severe systemic weakness or severe abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting symptoms. It should be used cautiously in patients suspected of having acute abdominal pain or those with inflammation or wounds in the intestine or anus. Caution is also required for patients with severe heart disease, diabetes, severe constipation, neonates and infants, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. It should be administered with caution in patients with intestinal paralysis, those with rectal bleeding symptoms, and in the elderly. This medication may cause allergic reactions such as skin rashes; if such symptoms occur, use should be discontinued immediately. Gastrointestinal side effects may include abdominal pain, flatulence, abdominal bloating, rectal discomfort, and warmth or discomfort in the anal area. Additionally, cardiovascular side effects such as blood pressure changes or orthostatic regulation disorders may occur. The prescribed dosage and administration should be strictly adhered to, especially when administering to children, it should be done under the supervision of a guardian. Prolonged use may reduce the efficacy and lead to dependence, so continuous use should be avoided. Elderly patients may have decreased physical function, so when using this medication, the dose should be reduced or extra caution should be taken. This medication is for rectal administration only and should never be ingested. Care should be taken during insertion as it may damage the rectal mucosa and if bleeding occurs during insertion, use should be stopped immediately. Any remaining medication after use should not be reused and should be discarded. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
