What does it do?

Letrozole belongs to the class of aromatase inhibitors and is primarily used for the treatment of hormone-dependent breast cancer in postmenopausal women. This ingredient reduces the production of estrogen in the body, inhibiting the growth of cancer cells.

Letrozole blocks the enzyme aromatase, preventing the production of the female hormone estrogen. When estrogen levels decrease, hormone-dependent breast cancer cells are unable to grow.

Commonly used for

Approved uses differ by product. Check each product's information for its actual use.

Good to know

Unlike other aromatase inhibitors, letrozole selectively inhibits only the aromatase enzyme, resulting in relatively fewer side effects. It is also particularly effective in postmenopausal women and can be used in combination with other hormone therapies.
