What does it do?

Clopidogrel benzenesulfonate belongs to a class of antiplatelet agents that regulate platelet function. It is primarily used to reduce the risk of thrombus formation due to atherosclerosis. It prevents platelets in the blood from clumping together, thereby preventing thrombus formation in the vessels.

This ingredient disrupts the process of platelets sticking together by blocking specific receptors on the platelet surface. As a result, it reduces the formation of thrombus and lowers the risk of vessel blockage. It thus helps to maintain smooth blood flow.

Commonly used for

Approved uses differ by product. Check each product's information for its actual use.

Good to know

Unlike aspirin, clopidogrel benzenesulfonate selectively inhibits the ADP receptors on platelets. This poses a risk of bleeding, but its mechanism of action and side effect profile differ from other antiplatelet agents. Furthermore, the salt form is different from that of clopidogrel, which may result in variations in absorption or stability.
