What does it do?

Omeprazole delayed-release granules contain an ingredient of the proton pump inhibitor class that inhibits gastric acid secretion. It lowers gastric acidity and is used to treat gastrointestinal disorders such as peptic ulcers. The enteric coating prevents degradation by gastric acid, allowing absorption in the small intestine.

Omeprazole reduces the secretion of gastric acid by blocking proton pumps in the gastric wall cells. This decrease in gastric acid helps prevent damage to the gastric mucosa and aids in ulcer healing.

Good to know

Unlike other gastric acid inhibitors, omeprazole directly inhibits the proton pump, providing a strong and persistent effect. With the enteric coating preventing breakdown by gastric acid, absorption occurs at the precise site.
