What does it do?

Phytosterol esters are unsaponifiable substances extracted from soybean oil, containing plant sterols and sterol derivatives. This ingredient is used to lower blood cholesterol levels as an atherosclerosis agent.

Phytosterol esters interfere with the absorption of cholesterol in the intestine, thus lowering the concentration of cholesterol in the blood. This results in a reduction of cholesterol accumulation in the blood vessels, contributing to the prevention of atherosclerosis.

Approved uses differ by product. Check each product's information for its actual use.

Good to know

Phytosterol esters primarily consist of plant sterols, which are similar in structure to animal cholesterol but are distinguished from other lipid-regulating substances by their ability to hinder absorption. Additionally, they are derived from natural plant materials, which enhances their safety.
