What does it do?

Misoprostol is a prostaglandin analogue that is used to protect the gastric mucosa and reduce damage from gastric acid. It is primarily utilized for the prevention and treatment of peptic ulcers.

Misoprostol stimulates gastric mucosal cells to increase the secretion of mucus and bicarbonate, and it suppresses gastric acid secretion to protect the gastric wall. This reduces mucosal damage caused by gastric acid and aids in ulcer healing.
