What does it do?

Opicapone is a drug used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease and belongs to the class of catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitors. This component prevents the breakdown of dopamine, thereby increasing the concentration of dopamine in the brain and helping to alleviate symptoms.

Opicapone inhibits COMT, an enzyme that breaks down dopamine, allowing dopamine to act for a longer duration. As a result, the motor symptoms of patients with Parkinson's disease improve.
