What does it do?

Ertugliflozin L-Pyroglutamic Acid belongs to the SGLT2 inhibitor class of diabetes medications. This ingredient is used to lower blood glucose levels by blocking glucose reabsorption in the kidneys. It primarily helps in the blood glucose control of patients with type 2 diabetes.

Ertugliflozin inhibits the sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) in the kidneys, increasing glucose elimination through urine. This reduces blood glucose concentration, lowering blood sugar levels. It acts independently of insulin secretion.

Good to know

This optimizes the bioavailability and efficacy within the body. Additionally, some reports have indicated cardiovascular protective effects, providing a distinguishing feature.
