What does it do?

Midostaurin is classified as an antineoplastic drug, primarily used in the treatment of specific cancers such as acute myeloid leukemia. This substance works by inhibiting several protein kinases.

Midostaurin blocks the activity of protein kinases involved in signaling within cancer cells. By doing so, it disrupts the processes by which cancer cells proliferate and survive, thereby inhibiting tumor growth. It is particularly effective against leukemia cells with FLT3 mutations.

Good to know

Midostaurin is a multi-kinase inhibitor that simultaneously inhibits multiple target proteins. This distinguishes it from other anticancer agents that target a single target only. Additionally, it shows selective efficacy in patients with specific gene mutations.
