What does it do?

Bictegravir sodium belongs to the class of antiretrovirals that inhibit the replication of the HIV virus. This ingredient is used to reduce viral proliferation in HIV-infected patients, thereby protecting immune function.

Bictegravir sodium blocks the process by which the HIV virus inserts its genetic material into the host cell DNA. This prevents the virus from replicating, thereby stopping the spread of the infection.

Approved uses differ by product. Check each product's information for its actual use.

Good to know

Bictegravir sodium is one of the integrase inhibitors and, unlike other antiretrovirals, is specialized for the viral DNA insertion phase. As a result, the risk of resistance development is relatively low, and it is often used in combination therapy.
