What does it do?

Nitrofurantoin belongs to the class of furanketone antibiotics and is primarily used for the treatment of urinary tract infections. It is included in medications for the purpose of inhibiting the proliferation of bacteria and alleviating infections.

Nitrofurantoin is activated within the bacteria and interferes with bacterial DNA and protein synthesis. As a result, bacteria are unable to proliferate and are eliminated, improving the symptoms of urinary tract infections.
