What does it do?

Ponatinib hydrochloride is an antineoplastic agent belonging to the tyrosine kinase inhibitor class, used in the treatment of certain hematological cancers such as chronic myeloid leukemia. This agent blocks the signaling pathways for cancer cell growth, thereby inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells.

Ponatinib hydrochloride inhibits a specific enzyme within cancer cells known as tyrosine kinase, blocking the signals for cancer cells to grow or divide. As a result, the proliferation of cancer cells is halted, and apoptosis is promoted.
