What does it do?

Mycophenolate sodium is a component of the immunosuppressant class, primarily used in organ transplant patients to suppress immune responses and prevent rejection of the transplanted organ. This component inhibits the proliferation of immune cells.

Mycophenolate sodium reduces immune responses by interfering with the synthesis of nucleic acids needed for immune cell proliferation. This suppresses the activity of immune cells that attack the transplanted organ, preventing rejection.

Commonly used for

Approved uses differ by product. Check each product's information for its actual use.

Good to know

Unlike other immunosuppressants, mycophenolate sodium selectively inhibits specific enzymes to block the proliferation of immune cells. As a result, it has a different side effect profile and may be used in combination with other immunosuppressants.
