What does it do?

Elvitegravir is a component belonging to the antiretroviral drug class and is used to inhibit the replication of the HIV virus. It is primarily utilized in the treatment of patients with HIV infection and plays a role in disrupting viral replication.

Elvitegravir blocks the process by which the HIV virus inserts its genetic material into host cells. This prevents the virus from replicating, thereby stopping the spread of the infection.

Good to know

Elvitegravir is one of the integrase inhibitors that directly blocks the stage where viral DNA integrates into host cell DNA, unlike other antiretroviral drugs. As a result, the emergence of resistance is relatively low and the treatment effect is excellent.
