What does it do?

Dabrafenib mesilate is an anti-cancer agent that selectively inhibits the mutant form of the BRAF protein. It is primarily used for the treatment of malignant tumors that are positive for BRAF V600 mutations. This ingredient blocks the signaling pathways for cancer cell growth, thereby inhibiting tumor growth.

Dabrafenib mesilate binds to the mutated part of the BRAF protein within cancer cells and inhibits its activity. As a result, the signaling pathways that promote cancer cell proliferation are blocked, which slows the growth of tumors. Its selective action results in relatively less impact on normal cells.

Good to know

Dabrafenib mesilate is a targeted therapy specifically for BRAF mutation-positive cancers, which targets only specific BRAF mutations unlike other similar targeted inhibitors. This results in a differentiated side effect profile and therapeutic effectiveness. It is also formulated in a micronized form to enhance its bioavailability.
