What does it do?

Naphtopidine belongs to the class of alpha-1 adrenergic receptor blockers and is primarily used to improve urinary disorders in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. This ingredient relaxes the smooth muscles of the urogenital tract, facilitating urine flow.

Naphtopidine blocks alpha-1 adrenergic receptors in the prostate and bladder neck, which relaxes the smooth muscles. As a result, the pressure in the urethra decreases, making urination easier and improving urinary disorders.

Good to know

Naphtopidine has a high selectivity for the alpha-1D subtype of alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, providing effects that are more focused on the bladder and prostate compared to similar medications. This leads to relatively fewer side effects and is effective in improving urination.
