What does it do?

Phenylephrine hydrochloride is a sympathomimetic agent used primarily for the purpose of constricting blood vessels in the nasal mucosa. It is utilized to alleviate symptoms of nasal congestion, typically provided in the form of nasal sprays or drops.

This ingredient reduces blood flow by constricting the blood vessels in the nasal mucosa. As a result, mucosal edema decreases and nasal congestion is relieved. This effect is due to the stimulation of alpha-adrenergic receptors in the sympathetic nervous system.
