What does it do?

Oseltamivir phosphate is an antiviral agent that inhibits the replication of the influenza virus and is used for the treatment and prevention of influenza. This ingredient blocks the neuraminidase enzyme found on the surface of the virus, preventing the virus from spreading from host cells.

Oseltamivir phosphate is converted into its active form in the body and inhibits the neuraminidase enzyme of the influenza virus. When this enzyme is blocked, the virus cannot release new viruses from infected cells, reducing the spread of the infection.

Good to know

Oseltamivir phosphate belongs to the class of neuraminidase inhibitors and, unlike other antiviral agents, directly acts on the stage of influenza virus spread. This makes it specialized for the treatment of influenza, while its effectiveness against other viruses is limited.
