What does it do?

Desmopressin acetate is a synthetic derivative of the antidiuretic hormone vasopressin, involved in regulating the body's water balance. It is primarily used in the treatment of diabetes insipidus and nocturnal enuresis, and it plays a role in promoting water reabsorption in the kidneys.

This ingredient acts on the collecting duct cells in the kidneys to increase water reabsorption. As a result, urine output decreases, and body water is preserved, alleviating the symptoms of diabetes insipidus and nocturnal enuresis.

Good to know

Desmopressin acetate is similar to the natural antidiuretic hormone but has a longer half-life and acts selectively, resulting in prolonged efficacy. Compared to other antidiuretic hormones, it has fewer side effects and greater stability.
