Povidone-iodine is a complex that stabilizes iodine, primarily used for wound disinfection and prevention of oral mucosa infections. It has excellent antibacterial effects against various bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

Povidone-iodine releases iodine slowly, destroying the cell walls of bacteria and viruses, and denaturing proteins to suppress infections. This process effectively inhibits the multiplication of microorganisms.
