What does it do?

Dutasteride belongs to the class of 5-alpha reductase inhibitors and is mainly used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and male pattern hair loss. This ingredient aims to alleviate symptoms by regulating the metabolism of male hormones.

Dutasteride prevents the conversion of testosterone, a male hormone, into its more potent form, dihydrotestosterone (DHT). By reducing DHT, it can inhibit prostate tissue enlargement and slow down hair loss progression.

Good to know

Dutasteride has the characteristic of inhibiting both types of 5-alpha reductase, resulting in a more extensive effect compared to other medications in the same class, such as finasteride. Therefore, it can be expected to have a stronger effect on the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and hair loss.
