What does it do?

Nepafenac hydrochloride is an ingredient belonging to the non-narcotic analgesic class, primarily used to relieve acute pain. It acts on the nervous system to inhibit the transmission of pain signals. Unlike narcotic analgesics, it has a lower risk of addiction and is used for various pain treatments.

Nepafenac hydrochloride reduces pain sensation by inhibiting the reuptake of neurotransmitters that transmit pain signals in the brain and spinal cord. This leads to decreased activation of the nerve pathways that perceive pain, resulting in pain relief.

Good to know

Unlike opioid analgesics, Nepafenac hydrochloride does not directly act on the central nervous system's opioid receptors, reducing the risks of addiction and respiratory depression. Moreover, unlike nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), it has a low risk of gastrointestinal disturbances, making it safe for pain management.
