A category of medications that strengthen the vascular walls to enhance vascular integrity.

Representative ingredients

The ingredients most often used in single-ingredient medicines of this type.

Commonly used for

What kind of medicines are these?

Vascular reinforcement agents are used for symptoms or diseases caused by weakened blood vessel walls. They primarily help increase the elasticity of blood vessels and reduce leakage to prevent edema or hemorrhage.

These medications promote the synthesis of collagen in the blood vessel walls or protect endothelial cells to strengthen the blood vessel walls. They also act to reduce vascular permeability, thereby decreasing leakage.

Good to know

Vascular reinforcement agents are different from medications that control blood pressure, focusing instead on directly strengthening the blood vessels. Their mechanisms of action and purposes are also distinct from vasodilators or anticoagulants.
