Commonly used for

What kind of medicines are these?

These medications are used to regulate irregular heartbeats or restore a normal heartbeat. They are primarily prescribed when the heart rate is too fast, too slow, or irregular.

Antiarrhythmic agents help maintain a normal heart rhythm by regulating the transmission of electrical signals in the heart muscle. They act on sodium, potassium, and calcium channels, among others, to stabilize the heart's electrical activity.

Good to know

Antiarrhythmic agents are specialized medications for heart rhythm control, and their mechanisms of action and purposes differ from other heart-related medications. For example, they are classified differently from antihypertensive or anticoagulant agents.
